A Traditional Rapé (Hapé) Self-Applicator

A Kuripe is a compact, V-shaped ceremonial pipe designed for the personal application of Rapé or Hapé. One end is positioned at the mouth while the other rests gently at the nostril, allowing the user to work independently during personal ceremony, prayer, meditation or quiet reflection.

Intricate Yawanawá Beadwork

The most striking feature of this Kuripe is its detailed seed-bead decoration. Tiny beads in vibrant shades of green, blue, red, yellow, white and black have been arranged into expressive geometric patterns associated with Amazonian artistic traditions.

The beadwork brings colour, movement and individuality to the piece, while the earthy brown fibre binding holds the two dark-toned natural tubes securely together. The contrast between the bright beadwork and natural materials gives each Kuripe a distinctive ceremonial presence.

Natural Materials and Handcrafted Details

The Kuripe is formed from two dark, polished tubes, securely bound together with earthy brown fibre. One side is decorated with intricate beadwork in vivid shades of blue, green, red, yellow and white, creating a striking contrast against the natural materials.

At the base, a curved piece with beautiful organic markings is finished with silver-toned metalwork, a polished blue-green stone and small circular details. Black hanging cords with metallic beads add the final touch, giving the piece a distinctive and deeply handcrafted character.
