Handcrafted Amazonian Kuripe Self-Applicator – Shipibo Tribe

Price

£59.00

Handmade Shipibo Kuripe • Natural Crystal • Turquoise Stone • Authentic Amazonian Hapé Self-Applicator

Created by Shipibo artisans deep within the Peruvian Amazon, these beautiful handmade Kuripes combine traditional craftsmanship with striking natural materials to create a ceremonial tool that is both practical and deeply symbolic. Every piece is individually handcrafted, meaning no two Kuripes are ever exactly alike.

At the heart of each Kuripe sits an intricate decorative section featuring a natural crystal point, turquoise-coloured stone, ornate brasswork and flowing serpent-inspired details. Together they transform this from a simple Hapé applicator into a sacred ceremonial companion designed for personal prayer, grounding and intentional practice.

Choose between two distinctive styles:

  • Blackwood Crystal Kuripe – crafted from dark polished hardwood with a rich, elegant finish.
  • Lightwood Crystal Kuripe – crafted from light polished hardwood

Both versions share the same ceremonial centrepiece and Shipibo craftsmanship while offering their own unique character.

A Traditional Tool for Personal Ceremony

For generations, Kuripes have been used throughout the Amazon as personal self-applicators for Hapé (Rapé). Unlike a Tepi, which is used by another person, a Kuripe allows you to administer the sacred medicine yourself, creating a more intimate and personal ceremonial experience.

Because of this, many practitioners see a Kuripe as more than simply a pipe. It becomes a trusted ceremonial companion—used in meditation, prayer, grounding practices, energetic cleansing and daily ritual.

Symbolism

Every element has been carefully chosen, carrying symbolism that reflects Amazonian spirituality.

Natural Crystal- Represents clarity, heightened awareness, focused intention and spiritual connection. The crystal serves as a reminder to approach every ceremony with presence and respect.

Turquoise-Coloured Stone- Often associated with protection, balance, truthful communication and harmony between heart, mind and spirit.

Authentic Shipibo Craftsmanship

The Shipibo people are internationally recognised for their profound relationship with medicinal plants, visionary traditions and sacred ceremonial art. Every Kuripe is handmade using traditional methods rather than mass production, giving each piece its own individual character.

Natural variations in colour, grain, crystal shape and decorative details are not imperfections—they are part of what makes every Kuripe completely unique.

Usage & Ritual

Begin by cleansing the Kuripe with sacred herbs like sage or palo santo to purify its energy and prepare it for ceremony. Hold the Kuripe with reverence, connecting to its fiery energy, and set a clear intention for your ritual—whether it is to release, renew, or energise.

Place a small amount of Hapè into one end of the Kuripe. Position the opposite end against your nostril and blow gently, allowing the sacred medicine to flow through and align your energy. The fiery tassel and bamboo carvings serve as powerful conduits for focus and transformation, amplifying the depth of your ritual.

After the ceremony, clean the Kuripe thoroughly and store it in a sacred space. Over time, this Kuripe becomes a cherished companion, carrying the energy of the fire element and the wisdom of Amazonian shamanic practices.
