Serpent & Frog Spirit Tepi – Amazonian Hapé Ceremonial Pipe
£92.00
This remarkable handcrafted Amazonian Tepi pipe carries a vivid composition of sacred rainforest guardians and visionary symbols often encountered within the spiritual cosmology of plant medicine traditions. Flowing along the body of the pipe is the powerful presence of the Serpent Spirit, one of the most ancient and revered beings within Amazonian shamanism. The serpent coils upward through the design, representing the movement of living energy, the awakening of perception, and the flowing current of consciousness that shamans often describe when working with sacred medicines such as Hapé and Ayahuasca. In many traditions, the serpent is seen as a primordial teacher — the spirit that carries knowledge between worlds and awakens the inner senses.
Beneath the serpent appears the Frog Spirit, a powerful symbol of purification and transformation. In the rainforest the frog is associated with cleansing, renewal, and the removal of stagnant energies. Its presence within ceremonial tools often signifies the clearing of the body and spirit before deeper spiritual work begins. Positioned along the pipe’s body, the frog becomes a guardian of the medicine’s cleansing force, grounding the ceremony and supporting energetic balance.
Further along the pipe emerges a striking scarab-like figure, resembling a sacred beetle or visionary warrior guardian. Across many ancient cultures, from the Amazon to ancient civilisations, the scarab symbolises rebirth, protection, and the cyclical renewal of life. Its presence here suggests the transformative journey that sacred plant medicines initiate — a symbolic passage through death of the old self and emergence of renewed awareness.
Scattered throughout the carving are numerous small watchful eyes, set among colourful bead-like inlays and crystals. In shamanic symbolism, these “eyes” represent heightened perception and spiritual awareness — the state of expanded vision often described by curanderos during ceremony. They suggest that this pipe embodies not only craftsmanship but vision itself, reminding the practitioner of the unseen worlds that exist beyond ordinary perception.
At the lower section rests a vibrant red crystal stone, traditionally associated with life force, grounding energy, and the strengthening of intention. Surrounded by smaller stones and ornamental details, it acts as a focal point for the pipe’s energetic centre.
Together, the serpent, frog, visionary scarab, and the many symbolic eyes form a living narrative of awakening, purification, protection, and spiritual sight. This Tepi is not merely a ceremonial instrument — it is a symbolic map of the visionary realms encountered within Amazonian plant medicine traditions, carefully shaped by artisan hands to accompany sacred Hapé ceremonies.
